Terms and Conditions
Effective date: June 1, 2026
Organization
EVFD Raffles is operated by the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department (“EVFD”), a Maryland volunteer fire company. Raffle campaigns are conducted as charitable fundraising activities to support EVFD’s equipment purchases, firefighter training, and community safety programs. This is a licensed charitable fundraising activity, not a commercial gambling operation.
Eligibility
To participate you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age (or the minimum age displayed on the site or individual raffle).
- Be a legal U.S. resident in a jurisdiction where participation in licensed charitable raffles is lawful.
Active EVFD members and members of the same household may be restricted from participating in certain raffles under Maryland charitable gaming regulations. Eligibility restrictions, if any, are noted on individual raffle pages.
Account and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
Ticket Purchase and Payment
All ticket sales are final at the time of checkout completion. Payment is processed securely by Shift4, Inc. via a hosted payment page—EVFD does not store card numbers or cardholder data. Ticket reservations expire if payment is not completed within the reservation window shown during checkout. Completing checkout constitutes your acceptance of these Terms.
Raffle Rules
Winners are selected by random drawing from all sold tickets. Drawing methods, drawing dates, and any special rules are posted on each raffle’s detail page. EVFD may postpone or cancel a raffle when required by law, safety concerns, or operational necessity. In the event of cancellation, ticket purchasers will receive a refund or store credit.
Prize Claim
Winners are notified by email and/or SMS using the contact information provided at checkout. Prizes must be claimed within the period stated on the raffle detail page. Specific pickup or delivery requirements may apply. EVFD may require identity verification before releasing a prize. Prizes not claimed within the stated period may be forfeited as permitted under Maryland law.
Refunds
Refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis before a drawing occurs. Refunds are not available after a drawing has taken place. To request a refund, contact EVFD via the Contact page before the drawing date.
Charitable Purpose and Tax
All raffle proceeds benefit EVFD’s public safety mission. Raffle ticket purchases are generally not tax-deductible charitable contributions under IRS rules. Prize winners may be responsible for federal and/or Maryland income tax on prizes exceeding applicable reporting thresholds. Consult a qualified tax advisor regarding your specific situation.
Gambling Disclosure
EVFD raffles are conducted under Maryland’s charitable gaming statutes (Maryland Code, Public Safety Article, Title 13). Participation is voluntary and limited to eligible adults. This platform is not a casino or commercial gambling operation. Participants assume responsibility for understanding the laws applicable to raffle participation in their jurisdiction.
SMS and Email Communications
By providing your phone number and checking the consent checkbox at registration or in your account settings, you agree to receive SMS messages from EVFD Raffles as described in our SMS Terms. Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchase or participation. See our Privacy Policy and SMS Terms for full details.
Acceptable Use
You may not use this service to commit fraud, abuse promotions, submit false information, or engage in any unlawful conduct. Accounts found in violation of these Terms may be suspended or permanently closed at EVFD’s discretion.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Maryland law, EVFD’s aggregate liability for any claim arising from use of this platform is limited to the purchase price paid for the ticket order at issue. EVFD is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for EVFD’s own gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland. Disputes shall be resolved in Allegany County, Maryland.
Changes to These Terms
EVFD reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the site after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
